What is the project?

Drunken driving is a major concern which causes damage to life and property. To overcome this problem an alcohol sensing alert with engine locking project is proposed. This system keeps track of the driver’s breath constantly. When the driver is drunk and he operates the vehicle, it will Lock the engine and not allow the vehicle to move. Even if the driver gets drunk after starting the engine, the system will lock the car and not let it move in any direction and the driver will have to stop the car.

How it works?

The system works with the help of an AVR microcontroller. The main component of this system are the alcohol sensor, LCD screen and a DC motor. The alcohol sensors help to detect alcohol in the driver’s breath and send the message to the microcontroller. The DC motor helps to Initiate and stop the engine while the result will be displayed on the LCD screen. Thus, this alcohol sensing alert system helps to save the driver from crashing when he is drunk. If he gets drunk after starting the engine, this system will detect alcohol in the drivers’ breath and immediately sends command to the microcontroller to stop the vehicle.
